Upfront Answers for Your Journey

Who is Proud Autistic Coaching for?

Proud Autistic Coaching is designed for autistic adults who are:

  • Seeking to embrace their authentic selves and live more fulfilling lives.

  • Looking to navigate challenges in work, relationships, and daily life.

  • Ready to move from feeling overwhelmed to empowered.

  • Interested in developing personalized strategies for self-care and success.

  • Wanting to build confidence, set boundaries, and advocate for their needs.

  • Of any identity: any race, sexuality, gender, gender expression, religion, size, ability, nationality, culture, etc.

Do I need an official autism diagnosis to work with you?

No, you do not. We recognize that a self-diagnosis is equally as valid as a diagnosis given by a psychologist. Heck, you could just be wondering if you're autistic when you start working with us. While we can't provide official diagnoses, we can help you on the path to a self-diagnosis.

How have you tailored your coaching practice to meet the needs of autistic adults?

I've done this in several key ways:

  • Sensory-friendly approach: I understand the importance of sensory needs for autistic individuals. I exclusively offer online sessions so that you can set your sensory preferences in your own space. I'm also open to adjusting communication styles (e.g., video off, chat-based) to ensure comfort. Each session we’ll check in on your sensory needs to be sure they’re being met.

  • Online Scheduling: No need for phone calls here! Schedule sessions on your own time using our online calendar. It will even send you confirmations and reminders.

  • Direct communication: I practice and encourage clear, direct communication. I'm always happy to clarify or rephrase when needed.

  • Neurodiversity-affirming: My practice is built on the foundation of feeling pride in neurodiversity, celebrating autistic differences rather than pathologizing them. We work on authentic self-expression, setting healthy boundaries, and developing self-advocacy skills, not attempts to change who you are.

  • Flexible pacing: I allow for ample processing time and am willing to adjust the pace of our sessions as needed.

  • Autistic-led: As an autistic individual myself, I bring lived experience to my coaching, offering insights and strategies from an insider's perspective.

What are your coaching fees, and what payment options do you offer?

Our standard fee for a 60-minute coaching session is $200. Every hour of one-on-one coaching involves another hour of work behind the scenes.  We also offer coaching packages for a set price. We offer the following payment options:

  • Credit/debit card (secure online payment through Square or Kit)

  • PayPal

  • Check

.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 24-hour notice for rescheduling or cancellation. Late cancellations or no-shows will result in a charge for the session unless there's a last-minute unforeseen circumstance such as a family emergency or illness.

How long does the coaching process typically last?

This varies by individual, but most clients work with us for 3-6 months. We regularly assess progress and adjust our plan as needed. If you purchase a coaching package, it will come with a guideline for our time together. For example, the Sensory Empowerment Program lasts 8 weeks.

Do you offer group coaching or support services?

Not at this time, but we plan to offer these services in the near future.

What are your qualifications?

I am a certified life coach through the International Association of Professional Recovery Coaches. I also hold three college degrees: an Associate of Arts in Fashion Design, a Bachelor's of Science in Bioengineering, and a Master's in Teaching.

What is the difference between coaching and therapy?

While both involve confidentiality and support, there are key differences:

  • Purpose: Coaching focuses on achieving specific goals and making positive changes. Therapy addresses mental health concerns and past experiences.

  • Approach: Coaching is forward-looking and action-oriented. Therapy involves more exploration of thoughts and feelings.

  • Scope: While therapy is typically an ongoing process, coaching typically deals with specific goals and may be shorter term.

  • Licensure: Coaches don't require the same clinical licenses as therapists. I am a certified life coach through the International Association of Professional Recovery Coaches, however.

Coaching is not a substitute for mental health treatment. We can provide referrals to licensed therapists specializing in autistic adults if needed.
